Explosion Rocks Madison Avenue

Today, there was an explosion that rocked the Upper Eastside. To be exact, the explosion occurred at 62nd and Madison. Some people immediately thought it was terrosist - like everything that happens. However, it seems that this was the result of a gas leak in the building.

Shortly before 9am, a loud explosion was heard and the building blew up with debris flying all around the street. People were inside the building at the time, but as of right now no one knows how many people were there at the time.

Black smoke can still be seen from blocks away, and nearby building windows were blown as a result of the explosion.

The file still continues, but the building is gone. Reporters are saying that they spoke to many people who smelled gas earlier this morning, but apparently nothing was done.

More information as it comes.

People smelled gas but nothing was done...?

Sounds like a typical case of "not my problem."
